Let's be real here (Info & Suggestions)

I feel your pain brother! I've been dealing with the for that long as well (developer), and yes, I too am old ... But what's going down lately with the SSMS 2016 Update that sent SSMS down the river (won't even start anymore!) is not just awful customer service, it's downright criminal.

I took the plunge and updated to Windows 10 and I've paid a heavy price. Every month now since it's release, my machine refuses to boot after EVERY single update. Ok, I was on the preview team, but I quit that 6 months ago and purchased the Enterprise version. Same crap - every update requires me to format and start completely over.

Yes I have it down to a science and I can get back in action pretty quick but if I restore a sector based backup, I end up in the same boat after whatever update is the latest. I HAVE to format the HDD and reinstall the Operating System only and let it install EVERY update until it is completely up to date before I can begin installing my tools - Visual Studio 2010, 2012, 2013 2015, SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2014 and 2016 (yes I have spent SO DAMN much time this past year reinstalling Windows on my Work PC that hardly get to actually WRITE Software anymore!!)

Why just yesterday they forced an update to SSMS 2016 and then IT wouldn't start - after 6 debugging hours, I gave up. Then tonight - A PREVIOUSLY HIDDEN update with the MS Hide/Show tool decided that IT was going to install anyway - killed the PC ... again ...

This is NO LONGER just incompetence and crappy customer service - this is criminal and on Monday I WILL be having a conversation with my attorneys.
